ABOUT US


   Shalamar Shetland Sheepdogs was established in 1972. We are a small kennel near Boise, Idaho, where we take pride in our wonderful dogs...they are our best friends, companions, soul mates and an inspiration in our lives.

   Over the years we have taken pride on breeding quality...not quantity. I have been a member of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association for 27 years and served on the ASSA Board for 5 years, and I am currently the ASSA National Show Chairman. I have been a member of several All-Breed Clubs and Shetland Sheepdog Clubs.

   Our wonderful dogs have won multiple Specialties, Best In Show All Breed, and even the ASSA! Because we are small, litters and puppies only come along once in a while...we do offer a waiting list for the serious exhibitor.

I continually strive to breed only from top quality individuals in the hopes of producing physically and mentally sound dogs that are representative of the breed standard. Even though the shows are great fun, I enjoy moments spent in the yard playing with my dogs. The best moments are receiving photos and stories from the owners of my Shelties that I have placed. The sharing of this wonderful breed is truly fulfilling.

About me...
Once upon a time, in never never land....I was born.

Hard to believe that was over 62 years ago. I came from a wonderful family with 3 kids.. me being the only girl with two older brothers...one can only imagine how that was! I met my husband John over 38 years ago while working for the airlines at Los Angeles. One might say it was "love at first sight".

We've been happily married for 36 years and have two really wonderful kids...Lindsay (age 32) and Jason (age 31). We are very proud of them...both graduated from college, both love their work, and my son is married to a beautiful young lady named Joey from New Zealand....who knows, one day I might be a grandmother.

Both of my brothers live in Salem, Oregon.

My husband and I love to go fishing and camping...I love to go up into the wilderness with my dogs and husband and just "get away"....one always feels closer to God in the mountains....at least we do! My husband likes to hunt and play a little golf....I like to do art work and play "dog show". It gives each of us time to do our "own thing" but still do lots of things together....movies, plays, exhibitions, camping, and taking walks together. Life has been good to us and we have much to be thankful for.

Someone once asked me why our marriage and life was so good and what was the key to having it that way....to quote my dear mother....Be a good friend to others, especially your family....have faith in God...and ALWAYS have a good sense of humor". How right she was.
